DAM/Sola MK II vs. DAM OC-84 MK II

Post by redeyeflight »

Here's a demo I did of the DAM/Sola MK II and the Black and Gold DAM MK II loaded with OC-84's. 78 Strat w/ bridge pickup into 62 fender princeton mic'd with a Blue mic large diaphragm condenser. Level and attack knobs both at 3 o'clock for both pedals. I added a bit of reverb and compression in protools.

Nice one! I dig the Sola sounds better (but maybe I'm biased).

I actually like the DAM better.
it sounds a little more low-end heavy and compressed, more smooth.

But they both sound great!

thanks for the demos man.
Oh, DB? That's just slang for Dandy Big muff collector.

I think they both sound pretty rad! :crackjam: one thing to note that this demo doesn't show is that the DAM has considerably more output volume on tap than the sola.

Hey redeye,
Thanks for the demos. I've been lurking about in the shadows of this forum, gathering info, & doing some homework reguarding the Captain's different MKII variants. Thanks to your demos I've decided to pull the trigger on a D*A*M MKII equipped with OC84's. Now I just have to wait for it to arrive. I'm VERY excited about this pedal. From what I'm gathering ANY MKII build touched by the hand of Mr. Main is something unequaled in the fuzz universe. I realize I'm quite late to the MKII party, but it has appeared to work in my favor. Enough of my ramblings.
