Whirlygig Fuzz

This is a clip using a whirlygig tremfuzz
It was done with a squier affinity strat thru' line6 toneport
The trem doesn't work yet,but the fuzz is one of the best I've had?
I'm waiting on some mpsa13's which should sort it out?
It's supposed to be a trem & fuzz in one
The fuzz is great, and when the trem works,it's meant to be a fuzz with trem combined
You get 2 pots, one for the fuzz bias, and the other for the fuzz/trem speed
Hope you like it
Dan

Sounds nice! I could never get mine to trem.
I'm pretty sure that the tremolo was a fluke and just happened
to oscillate on Andy's. It's a simple circuit his just gave out the magic
somehow...plus his was on the breadboard only as far as I know.

Which transistor did you use if not the MPSA13?john

Hi John,
I did actually get it to trem once
But only once!
I put bc108's in it
I really do think it's one of the best fuzzes I've heard
When I get the mpsa13's,I'll post how it goes

Yeah, I tried it for a while on the breadboard but it would not oscillate.
Rather it would not trem, plenty of oscillation at some settings :)
The MPSA13 is a darlington transistor which is basically two transistors in one so it's got a TON of gain/current.
Is yours built on a breadboard or?

Sounds cool, what is the schematic like?

Hi,
I just built it from the schematic, breadboards confuse me!
I hope I can get it going right when I get the trannys
The mpsa13's are difficult to get here,I could order them from the 'net but I don't feel safe with financial details online
The schematic is pretty simple
I was quite taken back with the tone from it
But they probably said the same thing about the fuzzface when it came out?
I would recommend building it to anyone looking for value for parts
(I'd post the schematic, but it's got 'no re-posts' on it)
If you google whirlygig tremfuzz, you'll get it tho'?
(new clip of whirlygig)
Please excuse bad guitar playing & naff processing!
I did it DI with toneport for the purpose of demo

I just noticed that Dragonfly's site was gone, I think the schematic was there.
It may be at diystompboxes.com in the gallery. If you don't find it there then email
me at basicaudiowv AT earthlink.net and I'll send it to you.

I tried the mpsa13's,and it still won't trem!
I'm going to de-bug the thing,I had it tremming once...

I built it twice with MPS13s and switched out the transistors for different ones of the same type. No trem either time. Not to say that you won't get it to work but I have not heard of anyone getting the trem working other than Andy...and his was on the breadboard.

Hi John,
I did get it to trem for a short while
I just can't remember what I did to get it to do so?
I maybe changed the bias pot from 500k to 2M?
I'll get it to bloody well trem,by stamping on it repeatedly!
I might just build another to see how it goes?
