There is in fact already a historical precedent for the 'hybrid MKI'. The youngest (known) of the Zonk Machines were built with silicon transistors in the second position. I've played two hybrid Zonks and they both sounded ace, but I suspect that this probably doesn't completely solve the awkwardness of building MKI's?

They already have the perfect blue hammertone done up for the Fuzz Sound / Hybrid MKII. >>
