D*A*M/Colorsound Fuzz Box - The Toxic Avenger

Post by The Captain »

[slowly making catch-up archiving the shit we have made over the past few years. This is purely to document occurrences, so the said product may no longer be available - but, it never hurts to drop Macari's a few words of enquiry.]

Hit It!...but more!! Get outta my goddamn way, it's cool new project 4.1! If you hadn't guessed it, this was my idea. Question: is it black & purple or a disgusting shade of green? If the answer is yes, then it's Dave's fault.
To be fair, the original idea regarding the colour scheme was to have the old school Incredible Hulk vibes. The thought was, Alan Murray worked for Marvel, right? So why not have a Fuzz Box in the colour scheme of a Marvel character and not a DC one. The Hulk, not Superman. Something was most certainly lost in translation and this horrific beauty was created. The Incredible Hulk - no. The Toxic Avenger - yes. You fat slob. Let's see if you've got any guts!

Inside is the same the glorious simplicity that came from Master Dick Denney. A circuit board layout and internal wiring plan so laughable simple that it's nothing short of an act of sheer genius. Though compared to the standard all silicon Superman Blue model, this here horror show sports a hybrid circuit configuration. This arrangement consists of a BC108 and a CV7112, the military version of the OC140, which is a high specification germanium switching transistor. This transistor selection and subtle circuit alterations give the Toxic Avenger a darker, heavier and somewhat more fearsome tone when compared to the standard edition. Though this new Fuzz Box flavour is still in the realms of what Dick did with his original, so a vintage feel and response are still very much present. It's a step beyond rather than a leap into the Abyss.

There were 51 pieces in the project in total, (numbered #000 - #050) with all units being assembled by Daniel Lee Tunstill. All set-up procedures, transistor selection, final testing and inspection are carried out by myself.
