sounds good but wtf is up with the innards of that RM? hopefully i'm wrong in thinking that transistor is a replacement...? otherwise, if he spent anything close to 4k on that, well, i'd be asking for a refund.

Yup, it's a more recent Tungsram transistor. Probably had an OC71 in there originally.

I recently had DAM TB-02 with one tranny replaced with Tungsram AC128.
