It sounds better today. I messed around with the trimpot inside (which is in pretty filthy state) and, while it's a little less gated now, the line between usable amount of gating and wild background noise is pretty much non-existent with this model...

I also made a quick demonstration of riffs + wankery to compare the silicon with the germanium model. The amp's set clean, and the guitar is my Squier Tele with 3+ year old strings. The Peps have a decent chunk of output boost available, and driving the front end of the amp is a big help for both models. I suspect that they're better suited for guitars w/ humbuckers as well, but sadly I haven't got one :(

The previous owner of this pedal holds the current record for best pedal bargain -- in the 1990s, he purchased this Supa MKI, along with a 1965 MKI, for a whopping £14 the other pedal was scored by another forumite a couple of years ago
