Appreciation for Valves / Tubes

I'm guessing there might be a few Geeks out there like myself who like to kit their amps out with New old glass! Some feel a change to the amp EQ can compensate for the differences in the tones they hear between the new Russian/Chinese stuff and the old 40/50/60s stuff.
Personally apart from the tones I love the mojo! As I do with all vintage gear.

Judging by the code and the delta Triangle I'm not sure if this is Phillips or Amprex?!
Nice tube though. Clear, brightish but still that warmth you associate with a European tube.

Just recently had a "I can't believe I've been so dumb, these two spare tube sockets make excellent pin straighteners" cross my brain.

Now I've got a GE and some Sylvania 12ax7's I won't hesitate to swap in / out of my favorite amps.

Apart from their sound, I guess I've always loved the shape of tubes - the fact they look like little spaceships - and the subtle differences in design
As a matter of national pride, I really want to track down some Australian-made tubes one of these days.
