I would definitely agree that it's less compressed and more open sounding at lower settings, when you max out the attack knob though it compresses up. Definitely more bass in there too. Another tonal tidbit I found is that it retains pretty good string definition, even at the highest attack settings.I am Incinerator wrote:how does it compare to a MKII? I've heard that it's less compressed, more open. Is it more raspy/buzzy in the top end? More bass? I'm still a relative newbie to fuzz only fuzzes that I've played are an MKII (Skinpimp), and a Ge Fuzzface (a not-so-working '69).1bottlerocket wrote:That is my take too!I am Incinerator wrote: I'll go for just about any color when my name comes up
I had a chance to play it today and I have to say, it is pretty incredible! Totally different feel than the '66. I found it a lot smoother and more sustain. Amazingly, it cleans up too with just an edge of hair on the signal. Another great build form the D*A*M lab!!!
My old Distortion + used to get pretty fuzzy though, as well as some of the BJFE stuff I've had.
I have a little Hendrix passage I play as a sort of acid test to determine the amount of string definition. It uses some hammer-ons on the high E string and if I can hear the accents come through then it pretty much does it for me.
