Updates to Paypal Policy
Has anyone caught this? Paypal will no longer refund their original fees when processing a refund.
In line with industry practice and according to our updated policy, we will not charge a fee to process refunds,
but the fees from the original transaction will not be returned.
Once you pay the fees they're gone forever. Paypal being Paypal. As if they don't make enough money already.

I am definitely going to be looking for alternatives.

Re: Updates to Paypal Policy
If you're using eBay or Reverb or something it *might* force you to go through their paypal channel but if its a private sale you can always receive money as a gift or whatever with no fee. I try to do that whenever possible. Or Venmo, but I think that might only be in the States.
Alternately, I try not to use money direct out of my Paypal account. I either use a Paypal debit card, which draws from that account but gives you 1% back, or just pay on a credit card with better points, and transfer money from Paypal to regular banking. At least that way you're getting SOMETHING back.

Yes, I have been consciously trying to avoid PayPal by paying with a CC. I think Reverb is eventually going to phase out PP too and process payments through their own system.

No, that's not true. At least not unless something has changed in recent months. Money shows up in your paypal account immediately. It *could* be different internationally, maybe?innerflight wrote: ↑Thu Sep 19, 2019 3:40 pm but the reverb payments don't happen straight away do they? buyer has to confirm they have received the item, fuck that lol

Ah ok, I think thats just for the very first transaction then it becomes instant, I knew I looked into it and didn't like the sound of it, probably a bit too hastilyDr Tony Balls wrote: ↑Thu Sep 19, 2019 4:01 pmNo, that's not true. Re: Updates to Paypal Policy
Admittedly, I have not looked into Reverb payments as of yet but I am going to have to read the fine print sooner or later. This business with PP keeping their transaction fees no matter what is really shitty. The new policy goes into effect 11 October.Dr Tony Balls wrote: ↑Thu Sep 19, 2019 4:01 pmNo, that's not true. Re: Updates to Paypal Policy
Buy & Sell on Reverb, use Reverb's payment option. Bypass Paypal. Fuckem.1bottlerocket wrote: ↑Thu Sep 19, 2019 9:12 am I am definitely going to be looking for alternatives.
The issue with Reverb payments not being immediate is true, but they only hold onto it til the buyer confrims receipt the first couple of times, after that they send it on once you post tracking #, so you can get on with it as fast as you can get to the post office.
