Hagström Futurama Coronado Automatic! Thanks to Goodfuzzysounds on Instagram. Looks like the steel bar is a very elaborate headstock repair. I’m really excited to get this playable now.
I used to have a couple of Hagstroms (only one now), but my first thought was it was German, with the Hag Tremar. I think this was the one Futurama (UK import) model that didn't have a direct equivalent in the main Hagstrom line - maybe Selmer didn't like the Condor/Corvette/Impala body shape?
Handmade, high-impact, great-looking radical queer germanium fuzz. A different approach to 1960s-inspired fuzz pedals, no clones, check them out at https://goodfuzzysounds.com or on YouTube https://tinyurl.com/GFS-YT
hah! interesting! is a mystery good marketing?
the catalogue mentions an acrylic scalloped fretboard, maybe that was replaced too, or they just changed the spec. With this, stainless steel frets and the mad controls, it was v advanced in it's time.

Doesn’t have the scalloped acrylic but neither have other examples I’ve managed to find online. The frets could be steel as they look old but have virtually no wear.

Jim, you've probably come across this already, but there's a great thread on Offset guitars detailing a restoration of a badly mangled Coronado. Might pick up some tips:
Yeah I spotted that thread. Amazing job he’s done on that guitar!
I’ve got in touch with some Futurama enthusiasts who’ve been really helpful. Seems the acrylic fretboard was probably broken along with the headstock. Only 200 of these were built in 64/65. Nobody seems to know what it’s worth though. I’ve had a few low offers but I’d rather keep it than take £100.
