The name was way too close to "Big Muff". That's asking for trouble.

EHX also sent a C&D letter to another small pedal company.. I can't remember who but I saw it on TGP. It seems like they're protecting their IP more actively now. EHX gives a good sell, but the product often fall short to me. I'd rather buy a clone of a vintage circuit than a modern EXH Big Muff.. Basically the opposite of the situation with BPC. Weird.

It is close, I agree. I wonder why they waited so long, he has been making these for many years. I can see them getting a bit miffed over copies f their newer circuits but they don't make any of the other circuits.

I think the same thing happened whoever it is that makes the Muffroom Cloud.

The circuit is no problem, anyone can clone it legally. A C&D would have been about the name and/or the looks. Most of the print designs TYM copied are no longer used by EHX, though. From what I understand, one has to actively use a trade mark to have the rights to it, so I guess he could probably use them with a different name.

He may have been making them for a while, but maybe EHX wasn't aware of these until recently. They can't be aware of every little boutiquer in the world.

If anything it's good publicity for this Big Mudd guy (who?)

The C&D was given to Thorpy as of recently.

Ah, okay. I thought it was about the whole pedal. So to get around the C&D I guess all he would have to do is change the name and graphics.

I just looked up the Thorpy--Is it the name, Muffroom that is getting EHX's panties in a bunch?

It certainly looks cool.

Tym is pretty much legendary in Australia and his pedals are highly regarded all over the world. He builds guitars, amps, fuzz boxes, as well as running a shop and a record label. And he is very much a standup guy, who goes out of his way to do things the right way. And I'm sure he'll keep doing just that.
