Try a fresh battery (around 10V). I found that this makes them sound less farty when it's hot.

The old boy seems to be a lot more sensitive than my Arbiter as I recall it (who is also an OAP) :hmm:

No such problems with goldie or brick bender

MK1.5s are biased really hot. In the heat they are really prone to gating and fartiness. Arbiter biased the Fuzz Face a tad colder - it's the only significant modification they did to the MK1.5 circuit. Also the transistors varied a lot and some do bias fairly cold. There's a pretty wide range of bias voltages that will work well and the MK1.5 was set right at one end of the range.
