Re: Favourite builders for certain fuzz types?
Jerms for me. I have several from superfuzz to MK1 Golden Wedge.
Spewing that I had to sell my Sam Ash which was Custom Blue to buy my Travis Bean but it'll come up for sale again sometime and I'll snatch it back. Must say that Jim's Brassmaster is of the charts.
I've had several versions of the same models by Pigdog, DAM, Castledine and Creepy and did A/B sometimes A/B/C/D testing and my taste always arrived with the Jerms. A lot depends on your rig also. I run stereo amps, a Cornell 18/20 and an Ulbrick Venue 30 with either the Bean, 1965 Riviera w/PAF Mini humbuckers, an sq strat w/ bareknucke Irish tours or a custom with Lollar P90's so I'm not saying the other builders are not as good, just don't marry with my rig as well as the Jerms stuff if that makes sense

I like all that have been mentioned so far, I'll add that Monolith fuzz makes a killer big muff

Tim from Tym Guitars does amazing muff builds of every variety but if you can try the Violet Mud, totally awesome. As are his MXR dist and Rat builds.
Yusuke from Orhanic Sounds in Japan does wonderful tone bender builds using scarce nos parts.
Ryan Kirkland built fantastic MKIII’s under the Skinpinp name but unfortunately he’s hung up the soldering iron now.

Come on guys - Dave is King of mk1 + mk2 Tone Benders, no fucking doubt! Arguably the whole Tone Bender renaissance is down to him! Most of these other builders are only building on his work and generosity with schematics etc.
