Interesting. I'd love to see some pictures of the board...1bottlerocket wrote: ↑Fri Jun 25, 2021 3:58 pm Have you ever seen a DM-2 with this early of a serial number? The back of the board is different than any that I have ever seen too. Here’s a link to my IG feed. Can post pics later.

Welcome Kate, fellow fuzz and vintage Boss collector here! Pretty sure I’ve sold you a pedal or two over the years, can’t wait to see some pix of your collection!

Here are the pics of the unit I found while living in Japan. It is the earliest I have ever seen.kebneter wrote: ↑Fri Jun 25, 2021 8:02 pmInteresting. Here you can see the trace of this board has a little (diode?) soldered on to it and the PCB serial number ends in 00 and the DM-2 board designation is in the lower right corner.
This is the trace side for a later DM-2 No diode, and the PCB art is different. The DM-2 PCB serial number ends in 03 now, and the board designation is moved up to the middle and to the right edge.

i have zero knowledge of this circuit but according to the schematic at https://www.hobby-hour.com/electronics/s/dm2-delay.php it 'should have' 5 diodes, it could be it was missed off the first pcb design?

I am not sure. I have seen two DM-2 units with this serial number and they both had this diode on the rear of the board, while all others did not. I bought about 12-14 Boss DM-2 while I was living in Japan and seen about 30 in total and the two early units are different than the rest. All the others are like the unit above. I am going to open up a couple and check to see how many diodes they have. Thanks for the tip.

Welcome Kate. This place ain’t what it used to be. This thread alone is evidence of that.

Forums in general, atleast the ones I frequent have all gone a bit quiet. I guess folks have lives and there's only so many times you can talk about a specific area of interest and have it be enthusiastically received by a large amount of people.
Facebook etc has diluted the need or popularity of forums too.
