Current Roosters Trannies?

Post by Coolhand78 »

are they using OC75's or OC45's like it says on the Rooster page? Or are they being built with some other
germy flavour?

would you call it modern or vintage sounding? I really dig the sound of the Starlight roosters...
and if I were to get another i'd be chasing something close to that...

I have a RR-10 with a Mazda AC154:

And another with a Philips OC141:

Both are great, but I like the OC141 better. It is loud as fuck and has a great sounding drive. The Mazda AC154 is a bit tamer, but still kicks huge amounts of ass.

How do these compare to the 75, 45, cv7112 and 140's used previously?

The captains works have always been tight in spec I would not imagine too much variation between runs. Having said that I think the newer ones are a bit hotter

I own 4 different Red Roosters, including the RR-10.

The RR-10 has more gain on tap, is very low noise, features a dc input, and an LED. They are loaded with an NOS Phillips OC141. To my ear the RR-10 does not have the big mid range hump that you most often hear with a germanium boost pedal. I hear this as a good thing because it allows you to use the pedal for big boost with out coloring your original tone too much.

Don't get me wrong... The RR-10 is not a sterile boost with no personality. It has it, but to my ear its more about the balls and not the mids.

In a nut shell... My favorite Red Rooster variant and in my opinion the best version ever made.
