This just absolutely KILLS. Keith Mlevhu, "The Bad Will Die" from 1976.

^ Agreed. This thread's full of good stuff, and this is one of my favourites. It sounds like they'd got hold of some Sabbath records.

^ Glad you like it, man! Incredibly, Keith Mlevhu plays everything on that track. Bass, drums, guitar - it's all him. He was a bit of an outsider in the Zamrock scene, apparently, very independent, right down to releasing his own records. Always did things against the grain.

Like a cross between Sabbath and Funkadelic almost.

I didn't know that that Keith Mlevhu record was just him. That's great! It would be interesting to know what all of these musicians were listening to in the seventies, how much they'd heard from the UK and US, what they liked, and how much they'd just developed themselves. Good gear must have been hard to come by in Africa. I guess that contributed to the raw sound of the records.
As you can tell, I know nothing about this.

Two great Zamrock records available for digital download from Now-Again if you sign up for their monthly subscription: Mike Nyoni and Born Free's "My Own Thing" and Jesper Siliya's "Giant Steps". First month is free, so you can sign up, get the downloads and cancel any time, or keep the subscription and keep getting great music. David Axelrod's "Song of Innocence" is also part of the deal, so you really can't go wrong.
Head here: https://www.nowagainrecords.com/announc ... scription/
Here's the first track from Mike Nyoni:

The Jesper Siliya record is really hard to find and sounds ace. Seriously, how can you turn down a record with a cover like this?
