Normally at home I play thru a DR. Z Carmen Ghia (18 watt EL84's, 2x12 Cab) or a silverface Deluxe Reverb (22 watts 6v6's 1x12). Neither amp has a ton of headroom (particularly the Ghia). The Dark just seems to be too much for the Ghia , flubs out pretty quickly. The Deluxe Reverb fares slightly better, but can still get sputtery if you're not careful. Thru my Marshall JCM 800 w/4x12 (which rarely gets played anymore since I've stopped playing out regularly) this thing just kills, sooo much bottom end. So yeah, it definitely likes lots of volume and headroom. I absolutely love this thing, and my neighbors couldn't be more pleased .drunkenguitarist wrote:What the Captain said about this pedal needing breathing room is true. Well, I had planned on writing something about this today, but with the whole Fuzz Sound MK III thing going on I am just now getting around to it. Anyway, I think Jazzandmetal? pretty much covered it in regards to where this thing sits in the Sonic spectrum. One thing I noticed, that drunkenguitarist mentioned is that:

Re: Fewer visible photons...The Meathead Dark
sounds great, I usually use my Meatheads with my Deluxe Reverb but the other day I tried them through my main dirt amp... Marshall JCM2555SL (Jubilee), and it sounded phenomenal! Much more note definition and just generally less boxey sounding. (Don't get me wrong, it sounds freaking awesome with the Deluxe), but as you point out, it seems to breathe when you give it 100watts to play with as opposed to 22! And the 4x12 just makes this thing project like a motherfucker!

I want one of these more than anything else that Dave is making right now!
I'm going to keep my fingers crossed that I can get in line and wait for one. I play bass a fair bit at home too, so this would be perfect. The black and gold is great and sounds so thick, but sometimes I wish it could go a little further. I think this is the ticket.

haha, no she doesn't have a sister. Anyway, I didn't manage to grab one of the Dark Meats but I did snag a Fuzz Sound MkIII yesterday so I might see if she can pay for that instead... haha, only joking.psycho*daisies wrote:Nice!smogfalls wrote:It's nearly time guys!
