Check your wiring, it could be something loose causing a grounding problem perhaps.

Yeah I should crack it open and have a peek
Edit-has a peek, all seemed good.

What transistor does it have?
You could see if the hiss is affected by temperature. Pop it in the fridge for 5 minutes then plug in right after you take it out.

Re: Red rooster gone all hissy
I had a hiss with my creepy recently. Contacted brad and we were both stumped. I changed the battery ..... it’s working again
Seriously though I had been disconnecting the input jack to preserve battery life and leaving the output in.
Looks like it was slowly draining the battery. Causing irregular hissing and white noise.
Had a few transistors give up too in various devices.
I guess these NOS things can test good but doesn’t mean they’ll always last or work well in a circuit?

I've had a few germanium transistors that went permanently bad after some time in treble booster builds - some noise, crackling sounds, so yeah shit can happen with time.Doc Holliday wrote: ↑Tue Jun 09, 2020 2:04 pm I guess these NOS things can test good but doesn’t mean they’ll always last or work well in a circuit?
If it's rly bad noise, then I'd also guess there's some connection broke.
