That'd be my guess, too. For some reason a lot of people did coil taps in the 80s and 90s.

Wasn't sure what to make of it at first but it's a beast of a guitar.
Bought it from a collector and it obviously hadn't been played in a good while.

Stripped her down, gave it a good clean-up, redid the dodgy wiring and it's pretty much perfect now.
Had different pickups at some point (Shaws are back in) and a coil tap, so I plugged the hole with a bolt, works well enough

Free Laney R3. Not a bad bass amp from what I can remember. 165 watt with a 15 inch Celestion. Works but needs a clean up and minor service. I’ll try it out today with my free AXL bass and see what tone I can get for £0.00.
