Re: Show off your builds!
Weird Shit.
This started as an experiment to build an amp with a long tail phase inverter and push-pull EF86 backend. The idea being a ~1/2watt bedroom amp with a relatively standard phase inverter and PP pentode back end so you could recreate some classics at TV set volume. Even with some adjustments that was too much gain into the EF86s and didnt really work out. Decided to rev the design and use NOS ECL84s for the power tubes which dealt a lot better with the gain of the LTPI. Those provided a bit too much power for my everyday use (~2 watts) so I added a little built in attenuator on the back. The preamp is a kind of BF Bassman / Dumble-y kinda thing.
I built a little cab for it to and used up some odd parts that I dont need like some tweed fabric, which I think I used the wrong glue on because it got all splotchy. So I stained it black and got weird black tweed:

^ That looks cool as shit, Tony, although I would have been tempted not to build a cabinet around it. I know - live voltage, safety issues, etc. But I just love looking at those tubes.
