Re: The Dope Priest
HI, sorry to bump an old thread, but what is the difference between the DP-75 (which as I understand it, is no longer produced?) and the current DP-77, please? Both are Ram Head circuits, is this correct? Sorry for my naivety, I'm new to D*A*M/EFE pedals. Got my DP-77K this week and I love it. Many thanks

Welcome to the forum Jonathan
I think they’re the same same thing, the captain just renamed them for ease. I think he said the DP77 is slightly more refined than the DP75

That makes sense. I really appreciate you getting back to me, thank you. Would love a similar homage to the original colours for the DP-77 as what's been done on the recent limited edition DP-93K in Khaki Green.

Re: The Dope Priest
From what I understood, DP 75 & 77 are similar soundwise.
If you go back to page 28 & 32 of this thread, you will see the difference in wiring from the XD models in grey hammer and the freshly released ZD version.
And here's a pic of my 93K which looks absolutely fantastic, many many thanks Captain

Such a cool fucking pedal. I got mine last week, too. The stickers and paraphernalia really made the whole thing an occasion. Playing through the 93K for the first time was like a lightbulb moment for me, almost as if I’d never played a Big Muff style circuit before, because they all paled in comparison. I love it.
Thanks, I’ll check out earlier pages in the thread for the 77

Re: The Dope Priest
Hey all, long time admirer of D[*]A[*]M, first time posting here. I recently purchased my first D[*]A[*]M pedals: DP-75 in the grey hammer stubby box, and a silver hammer Meathead from 2008. Still in the honeymoon stages with them both. I have had many fuzz pedals of many lineages and was surprised by the sound of these pedals.
The DP-75 is very mids forward. Side by side with old big box rat it's very close in sound to my ears. Of course, I have the tone knob rolled all the way off because I'm not a huge fan of the hi-pass sound. My understand of the lineage of this pedal is the Ram's Head is supposed to be scooped. Is anyone able to educate me as to what this circuit is?

Re: The Dope Priest
Narp. Midrange shoved. The DP-75 and DP-77 are based on the Big Muff circuit that was produced approx 1976-77. A totally different sound to the version that predated it. This circuit type was seen in both the Ram Head and the Pioneer font graphics types, and the OEM iterations of that time.
The DP-77 is an exact sonic reproduction of that circuit. The DP-75 has my own teeny tiny circuit tweaks - lower noise floor, slightly more shove in the lower midrange over the upper.
Blah blah blah tldr; - less Gilmour, more Mascis
