Anybody familiar with Earth Sound Research heads?

Post by Geoffrey »

This popped up on my local Craigslist tonight... Anyone know about this? I checked the reviews on HC and it seems to be ok, especially if I can get it cheap!
Thanks,
G.

Update... The guy wants 350 to 400 dollars for it, but is open to offers. Whaddya think? I thought at first it was just a Kustom ripoff, but apparently these sound pretty good. Kustoms were made in Cincinnati, back in the day and pop up here pretty often. I find them awful sounding, but that is just my opinion...

Another update.. He says it is a tube amp... He wants to bring it by on Friday. He will take 350 for it. So we will see. I will keep you all informed... I have read that they also sold as Plush amps for awhile and that Zep used them on a late 60's North American tour. Woo hoo!

Here are some more pix he sent me. What size tubes are those? Are those Sylvanias the original tubes? Thoughts anyone?

Your smilies are too funny! Okay, I am getting this bad boy on Friday, if he brings it by... Then it is off to my amp tech to have it fussed over, new cord, etc.
Thanks!

i had a G-1000, it's basically a 2 channel fender copy. loud and clean and nice trem. if you haven't already figured it out the power tubes are 6l6's. i ended up having mine gutted and turned in to an old tremolux circuit. not because it wasn't a good sounding amp but because i was board at the time and just wanted something new. the only drawback to the amp that i could really find was it's size. it's frick'n big and if you have some big cabs it will look awesome on top. if your a pedal guy i think you'll enjoy this amp.

My drummer is a guitar head and cab collector these days. Vintage tube mostly. The dude has more guitar gear than I do, and he's a drummer. Anyways... he's selling his Earth for 800CDN so that one your looking at, sounds like a sweet deal. I don't know much about them other than, when I played through it...IT FREAKIN SMOKES!!!!

His is brown - see here:

Hi guys,
6Lg tubes.. cool. Someone should grab that other one in Canada. It looks nice. I am definitely a pedal guy. I will now have the Marshall, Fender and Vox sounds covered. If I could get my hands on a DR103, I would have all the amp tones I care for...Thanks everyone for the help and advice!
