I was able to do a mini-shootout last night with the Sola Sound Castledine, the Sola Sound D*A*M, and a smallbox Jerms. I know it has been mentioned previously, but should be stressed that the Castledine is DARK. Much more so than any other MkI-style I've used. I usually play through a Vox AC30 in the normal channel set to edge of breakup, with the bright cap off. The D*A*M was absolutely ripping, and really fun to cycle through different Attack settings! Conversely, the Castledine sounded somewhat dull no matter where the dials were. On a whim, I decided to turn the bright cap on (something I typically wouldn't do, especially with an aggressive fuzz). BOOM!!! The Castledine came to life! The D*A*M, on the other end, became thin and piercing. The Jerms was having a spectacular night, and sounded stellar no matter what the amp was set at!
