One of my all time favorite fuzz pedals. It is incredibly dynamic. All types of sounds hidden inside. Really inspirational and keeps you playing
Finland is cranking out the stuff, have u tried the Otsola stuff ?
Not yet, but I drool over that Instagram. Would love to add a fuzz face from him. Someday maybe. Eiko building my a hybrid fuzz face at the moment. Cannot wait to see the final result. Will be a nice way to start the new year !

Guts look the same as my early 70's one, a "Batman logo" MkIV, unmarked STC transistors

Thanks for you reply. Mine also seems to have the STC transistors.

Re to Spook. I don't think it has been repainted. The hammarite finish looks to professional. Also, may MKIV TBs I find in this forum are hammerite (for example here https://stompboxes.co.uk/forum/viewtopi ... ors#p15276).
Is it possible to remove the lettering without hurting the underlying hammarite finish? If not, it must be refinished, however.

I tried to date the pedal via pots. But I could not find any info the pot rules for Radiohm pots. I read on my pots: 100k D 2 A. A seem to stand for linnear.
There is no date stamp.

Looks repainted to me as well. I don't recall seeing a 'Batman' MKIV like that with such a detailed hammertone before. Interestingly, forumite Laundromat has a 'blank' Tone Bender with a similar parts selection (dated November 1973), but his looks to have been sanded bare rather than (re-)painted.

Excluding funky custom (Roger Mayer etc) pedals that we haven't even seen yet, I suppose it could have been this one:

(also from 1965!)

ah yes, let's refine the question then - first non-wedge fuzz foot pedal?

Tricky! I wonder if the first pedal to have a completely flat footswitch might have been the long red monster Pep Boxes (from mid-1966). I bet there's some funky American stuff that has slipped my mind though...
