Learning curve on the TZF? Well, it's definitely a confusing pedal at first. I don't think I ever really mastered it, but I was able to coax some pretty awesome songs out of it (the best example being the psychedelic ending to "Ghosts" from the Saturday NIghts' Goodnight Magic Fingers album). The main problem I had was that I'd finally get the tone I wanted dialed in and then two days later I'd plug in and it was gone. Any tiny nudge of one of the many knobs would result in a different sound, which would frustrate the hell out of me in live settings. Dave Fox has talked about doing a smaller, simpler version of the TZF, but that's probably a long way down the road. For now, I'm enjoying his Aquavibe quite a bit. I'm tempted to get a Hot Silicon, too, as those are really nice and affordable.

Nine gobbets of germanium goodness for your aural delectation - but to keep the build simple you only need eight knobs!

Sorry, I should have been more specific, I meant the learning curve on the Hartman Flanger.

Oh, I bet the Hartman Flanger is really easy to use. I used to have a Deluxe Electric Mistress and it was fairly simple. The Hartman is based on the original three-knob non-deluxe Mistress, so it should be very straightforward.
