Differences between older largebox Meat Dlx and newer M-25
I've read the newer M-25's are voiced more like the Meathead "dark", whereas the older bigbox meathead deluxes's could be eq'd a little darker, but didn't necessarily have the same low end ooompf.
I'm looking for something that's more akin to the Meathead Dark--Should i go with the M-25 or will the big box Deluxe get me there as well?
Thanks!

M-25 can get similar tones to the Dark, but there are some differences/
The M-25 is really smooth and sounds more like a Muff than a Fuzz Face. which is probably why I like it so much.
here's a thread I made comparing the M-25 to the Dark and the B&G Meathead.

i think it's important to hear the differences between all the models of each time era to compare. You pay good money for these and for good reason, but you still have to know what sounds best to you before you invest the dough. Personally, i love all those MH deluxes. They all have something a little different to offer. Still, my favorite by a hair would be the sparkly large box version.

I don't think it quite goes there to the extent of the M 25. That's a bit more bassy in my opinion. The sparkle one is just that. It sparkles beautifully into the mid to highs when the filter is set at 12oclock to 10oclock. I think the M 25 is right up your alley, and trust me, if you hear it and it doesn't work for you, I'm sure someone would be more than happy to buy it from you. The M25 is on my DO NOT SELL list for sure.
