Neil Young
Neil Young was playing last night across the street from my guitar store in Everett Wa. Chris from Death Cab For Cutie hooked me up with a couple passes and I was treated to an amazing night of music. Neil's tone was off the hook and his band played flawlesly. I have always wanted to see Neil Young live and WOW, no disappointment at all.
He had the BIGGEST Magnatone cabinet I have ever seen in my life. It stood over 6 feet tall and from my view appeared to be loaded with 2 horns, 4 10" speakers and 6 12" speakers. It was with a doubt the largest speaker cabinet I have ever seen.

That sounds great, Tommy1966. Yes, mucho love for Neil Young. Also, pretty cool that you know the Death Cab guys. I've been listening to some Postal Service lately.

Sounds like a great show! I read a great interview with Larry Cragg talking about his set up and gear. The man has some seriously cool gear, that's for sure!

Re: Neil Young
I didn't mind him when he did 'toast' with Streetband but the late 80s stuff was horrible, 'wherever i lay my hat' is one of the worst songs ever!

Re: Neil Young
If I remember my Neil Young history, the crap stuff he did was basically on purpose. He was trying to get out of a record deal and couldn't, so he put out some subpar stuff to get back at the record company. Can I get an amen brother, on the subpar stuff for revenge..

That is exactly how I heard the story. He wanted out of a bad contract with a label that did not have his better interest as an artist at hand.

Re: Neil Young
Say what you will about Neil, ( my wife hates him) one thing she can't say. That he "sold out" Neil Young still plays halls, arenas, stadiums and festivals...but you will never see him booked on the Casino tour. Bob Dylan, (a voice for a generation) or Ringo Starr can't even say that..... I have big respect for my home town hero for that. He brings the real deal.
His tone is pure bacon and eggs to my ears. I've always dug his sound. And of all the concerts I've seen in my life. And I've watched pretty much everyone in Classic rock - I still have yet to see Neil.
If ya want to hear some live killer classic Neil Young guitar tone!...check out Live @ Bonnaroo - "Love for Sale"....fuck I can listen to that for ever!
