Any idea what trannies were used in the Ram Head?
I have a white big box with BC182Ls and had a PCB with BC239C.
What others were used -- and what runs had what trannies?
Any ideas?
PCB with BC239C.
Also, I've seen two different boards inside. Mine has a small perfboard with BC182Ls
Then I saw this one from 2006 with a big perf board inside...legit?

Re: Ram Head Trannies and boards?
here's big box #20 from '06.... BC184L's and small stripboard.
hey dev... here's a link to #49 built in '06 with the larger stripboard.... i'd say that other one you posted is defo legit! i wonder when the change to the larger board took place?

Re: Ram Head Trannies and boards?
One or two I think?!?!
I can't recall what had what transistors in as such but I think the first few with the GGG PCB had BC549C's, the small strip boards where mainly all BC182L's. Then the small box Ram started out with BC239B's but I switched the BC239C's pretty soon after rolling with the B's. After I switched back to the big box and strip board it was 239C's all the way, with the exception of the occasional odd ball circuit.

Re: Ram Head Trannies and boards?
I have a white one and a green one, white with BC182L's and green with BC239C's. I'm curious, is there a general thought for the best version?? Or just slightly different flavours (the white one is listed as a copy of the 1976 circuit, the other 1975)??
I'm going to have to sell one of them, and I'm still not sure which one I prefer to be honest.......but I am leaning a little to the green beastie.....
Please don't suggest I play both and pick one that I feel sounds good, I've already leaned toward the green one, but I want to know if there is a general preference for one version over the other, and if so, why?? I guess I'm curious as to why the change in trannies moreso than any other reason....
Thanks in advance....
Steve
