New Candy Apple Red Rooster
Well... it arrived.
I just got one of the new Candy Apple Red Roosters (thanks Downstroke music). It has a black mullard OC71 inside.
This is actually my 2nd Rooster, so I just spent a couple of hours comparing this to my other Red Baron Rooster with a CV7112 transistor. My family is out of town, so I was able to crank up the Marshall 18 watt and plug in the Tele.
They are similar but different. The CV7112 seems a bit cleaner and more hi-fi with less noise. It has the led and pops every time I click it. It also seems to be a bit louder.
The new one with OC71 seems to have a bit more hair and mid range juiciness. It doesn't have an led and doesn't pop when I switch it. It also has a bit more noise, but not that noticeable, and it doesn't seem quite as loud as the other one.
They really sound great when both are switched on. I needed a dual boost for my board, but I couldn't find another booster that sounded as good as the Rooster, so I'm glad I have 2 of them now.
Sorry for the lack of pics, the only digital camera I have right now is on my phone. I still mostly use film cameras.

I just got mine as well -- sounds amazing. I had a couple before with CV7112 and to me this one sounds even better. Although it's a different amp, so not a valid comparison.
Here let me fill in some pics :)

my knew motto is fuck the neighbours.
i am honestly waaaaaaay to considerate with shit that goes on.
so a few hrs with the 11 to 11 to fine by me.........though i aim to shut down by 10pm most of the time.
i just wrapped up pushing some speakers.............really would have preferred breasts on this rainy night,
but i had fun checking into some muted fuzz sounds with the volume knob rolled back.
it was like some "lost in translation" soundtrack rhythm or something......
i sorta adapt and lick working within the constraints of a pedal........actually what i think i just may have learned chatting it up right now.......is the a bit too much cut i was dealing with, well i was on the bright channel.....and should have adjusted the amp a bit to suit the sound with the pedal a bit more.
I was working it the other way around mostly, and i think i just may have awakened to my lesson.
the amp was a clean "bright warm" on the neck pup........should have rolled the cut knob up to reduce some high end.
ya.........rambling me

WTF
I am glad this pedal is sounding so good for you folks, and look'n so fine.
