Installing a Bright Switch in my Deluxe Reverb Reissue??

Post by smogfalls »

Hi,
I've been doing alot of reading on forums about clipping the bright cap from my DRRI. So, I went ahead and did it last night, and it greatly improved things for me when using my Strat and Tele, but I found that I missed those extra highs in the Vibrato channel when using a darker guitar like my Les Paul or Elitist Casino.
I then read that a few guys have installed switches to choose whether they have the cap in or out of the circuit and I've decided this is the route I'd like to take.
Thing is, I have no idea how to wire such a switch and exactly which switch I need? (I presume this would be the right one?...

So, anybody fancy telling me how to wire this up with my Deluxe Reverb Reissue?

Thanks so much,
Xan :)

I have a suggestion for you.

Why don't you change one of the potentiometers with a push-Pull one and put your bright switch there. That way you don't need to hack the amp's panel.

That would be a cool option, but in doing my research I discovered that most people think that is too tricky with the reissues... (board mounted pots). I was thinking, rather than using a switch like the one above, maybe just a simple little 2 way toggle switch might do the trick? How would I wire that up exactly?

hey Xan, here's a layout of a pro reverb.... it uses 120pf caps instead of the 47pf in the deluxe, but wiring would be the same. look at the vol pot on either channel and you'll see the switch and wiring to the right. basically where the cap went on the board put a SPST switch between one of the leads of the cap and it's spot on the board... leave the other lead of the cap soldered to the board. hope this helps  jim

wow, thankyou so much. That helps immensely! I shall get hold of a switch and have a go at this mod asap.
I'll report back with how it goes.
Thanks again,
Xan :)
